Batam Island

       Batam city is the largest city in Riau Islands, Indonesia country and is the city with the third largest population in Sumatra after Medan and Palembang, According to the Department of Population and Civil Registration Per Batam Batam April 2012 the population reached 1,153,860 inhabitants. Metropolitan Batam consists of three islands, namely Batam, Galang Rempang and connected by a bridge Barelang. Batam is a city with a very strategic location. In addition to being on international shipping lanes, the city has a close enough distance to Singapore and Malaysia. Batam is one of the fastest growing cities in Indonesia. When it was built in the early 1970s the town was only inhabited by about 6,000 people and within 40 years the population grew Batam to 158-fold.

       Geographical

       The town is part of the Riau Islands province, has a land area covering 1,040 km ² or about 1.5 times the area of ​​Singapore, while the total area reaches 2,950 km ². Batam city tropical climate with an average temperature of 26 to 34 degrees celsius. The city has a hilly terrain and berlembah. A soil less fertile red soil.
